Clairol Nice’n Easy Root Touch-Up™ |
||||||||
Root Touch-Up is an innovative colour maintenance product. It is designed to cover root regrowth and greys that show through around the parting, forehead and temples midway through the six-week haircolour cycle. Root Touch-Up has a no-drip formula that gives permanent coverage in just ten minutes. Since its launch six months ago, Clairol Nice’n Easy Root Touch-Up™ has been a major success. It has achieved strong coverage in magazines - Suzanne Wangmann, Beauty Editor of Sunday Magazine believes it has to be “one of the best hair products of the year”. And consumers love it - so much so that every minute of every hour of every day, someone, somewhere in Australia is buying a pack of Root Touch-Up™.* So is this a problem for the salon colouring industry? High profile colourist, Belinda Jeffrey, of La Boutique in Sydney’s exclusive Double Bay, worked with Clairol on the launch of Root Touch-Up and has this to say about why she agreed to endorse a home haircolour product. Q: Belinda, you’ve tested Clairol Nice’n Easy Root Touch-Up. What did you think of the product? A: It’s a great innovation for the haircolour market. For all women who colour their hair, either at a salon or at home, it’s the perfect way to maintain the best possible colour result. And we all know that long-lasting beautiful colour is what makes women feel good about their hair. Q: As a professional colourist, do you see Root Touch-Up as a threat to your business? A: Absolutely not. We have to be realistic and accept that not all women have the time or the budget to have their colour done regularly at a salon. For them, Root Touch-Up is a lifesaver. For salon clients, especially those who are covering greys and need 2 to 3 weekly retouching, it’s a cheap and effective way to fix the problem of regrowth. Root Touch-Up is no threat to La Boutique, I have a loyal following of clients that come for colour direction rather than maintenance. Q: Is it really possible for women to use this themselves to fix root regrowth? A: Yes, the design of the product has been really carefully thought through. It’s a good, thick, consistency, so its stays exactly where it’s applied and the brush which is supplied is exactly the right size to get into the roots and part. You should try one – you might even find yourself using it in the salon! Q: We’ve all had issues with home colour products. Isn’t Root Touch-Up going to be yet another problem that we need to fix when the client comes back to the salon? Not at all. The major benefit for me is that Root Touch-Up doesn’t create any colour banding. It’s not as strong as a regular permanent colour and doesn’t create that ugly ‘glow’ at the roots. The colour result is very natural and transparent and seems to match perfectly to three-week old colour. Q: Would you recommend Root Touch-Up to your clients? A: I already have! I went away for a month at the beginning of the year and gave all of my regular clients a pack of Root Touch-Up to use while I was away. I’m much happier knowing that they can use this to keep their colour alive – and that they’ll feel better about their colour – until I get back and can give them their usual treatment. I’ve also given the product to clients who are travelling themselves. It's hard enough getting colour right at home, but trying to explain to a foreign colourist who doesn't speak English what percentage of peroxide your own stylist uses is near impossible. And who wants to spend precious time on holiday sitting in a salon, anyway?
